Dates for your diary for 14th to 16th October, when The Grange and Glynde Easton will be well behind us. Don Giovanni, slightly abridged, will be sung for the Friday and Saturday two nights, followed by a concert on the Sunday, in Itchen Abbas Church at 7.30pm, in aid of the MS Society and the Valley Churches. The singers are a group of friends who are international artists and come together occasionally for the joy of singing together in small, intimate venues. We were lucky enough to hear them last year in Oborne in Dorset and even more fortunate to be able to find a date when they could come to the Valley. For the connoisseur, the best known may be the accompanist, Susanna Stranders, head of music at Garsington and described recently by Antonio Pappano as “a remarkable talent”. Tickets at £30 will be available from September via the Southwood Players website.
